These antique, brass, nesting weights, also known as pile à godets or pile de Charlemagne in French, are from Belgium and circa 19th century. There are numbers and an illegible maker's mark (the latter of which is on the lid).
The lid measures 1 ⅝" across, and the depth of the main container is ¾". The nesting bowls' measurements from lip to lip, smallest to largest, are ⅞", 1", 1 ¼", and 1 ¾".
The entire piece weighs 8.1 ounces. The container without the nesting bowls weighs 4.1 ounces, and the four bowls from smallest to largest weigh 3/10 ounce, 6/10 ounce, 1 ounce, and 2.1 ounces.
****Please note the fifth photo shows scratches to the side of the main container. Also, I've not cleaned this piece as some prefer the patina and wear from the ages.
I've seen these pieces elsewhere with more bowls, from 4 like this set to 12 and possibly upwards. I am unsure if this is a complete set.
