This antique, French postcard has embossed chromolithograph and foil cutouts on the face of the card with the sentiment Je Pense à Vous (I Think of You). The reverse of the card has writing in ink.
The reverse upper right corner reads (in translation): Only the name, occupation, and date may be shown on the card. The postage will cost the same as a letter if anything additional is written.
Abelard.org writes:
"From December 1917 to January 1947, there was a further tariff for “non-personal correspondence” with a limit of five hand-written words. The cards used were often labelled Imprimé rather than Carte Postale, and were usually printed advertising cards."
This card does have "Imprimé" as well as "5 centimes," which was the cost of mailing a postcard in 1909 until 1917 so I believe it to be from this period, probably 1917.
Dimensions are 5.5" x 3.5".
*****Please note there is edge wear as well as brownish discoloration to the front of the card (mostly near the envelope and along the card's edges.
