This French medal of Saint Michel with Mont-Saint-Michel on the reverse was engraved by Denis Fernand Py (1887–1949). Py was a French sculptor, medallist and engraver known for his highly stylized, religious engravings.
The medal, of unknown metal composition, measures ¾", not including the bale or ring attached to the bale. "France" appears on the bale, but the letters are worn. Circa mid-20th century.
****Condition: Scratches and wear to the face and reverse. Please examine the photos carefully and let me know if you need more as I'll be happy to oblige.
