This antique, mohair terrier probably dates to the early 1900s. It is approximately 9" in height from one forepaw to the crown of the head and is stuffed with excelsior. The legs appear to have metal in them and the ends of the forepaws are a bit bent and misshapen, not quite touching the surface upon which the dog sits.
The embroidered nose and mouth are incomplete and would need restoration. The dog did not have eyes save for the wire end of an eye protruding so I inserted a pair of antique, French glass eyes, which will come with the dog. The ears are lined with a velour-like material. There are no visible maker's marks and the dog is NOT jointed in its paws or neck.
The most accurate color of the dog is depicted in the last five photos where there was more natural light.
*****Please note the mohair has wear, sometimes considerable, in some areas, particularly along the forepaws where a hole in one shows metal, on the rear where excelsior is visible, and on the face, especially on the sides of the muzzle. The underbelly of the dog has the least wear, and the mohair is plusher here. Please examine the photos carefully and let me know if you need more as I'll be happy to oblige.
