This piece was sold to me as bronze, but I am uncertain; it could be brass. It is from France and measures 11" x 2.5" at its widest. It has five holes through which to anchor it. The third, fourth and fifth photos show some of these holes.
It looks as if this piece were painted in gold, and most of the gold has worn off.
I believe it's Renaissance Revival and could have been a caryatid ornamentation on a table leg. I'm dating it to the late 1800s, early 1900s.
Please examine the photos carefully and do let me know if you need more as I'll be happy to oblige.
