Antique, Enameled Guilloché Powder Compact by Grenoville of Paris

$125.00

This early 20th century antique powder compact with pull-off lid measures 1 ⅜" across and has an interior depth of ⅛". The compact appears to be of brass, and the lid is enameled guilloché. The underside of the pot is incised with the company's name- Grenoville- and Parfumeur à Paris. The inside of the lid has a mirrored inset.

*****Condition: There are two visible, small black spots on the mirror, probably from poor ventilation since the lid is almost always kept closed. Also, the interior where the powder was has discoloration and wear.

This French perfume and cosmetics company was in operation from the 1870s until the 1970s; however, the widow of founder Paul Grenoville (Marie-Marthe Richard) sold the house of Grenoville and its factories to the Parfise company in 1924.

Compact is in very good condition with the exception of the two small black spots on the mirror and the wear to the interior where the powder was kept. Please examine the photos carefully and do let me know if you need more as I'll be happy to oblige.

Thank you for looking.
