This chocolate hen mold from France has a definite patina and wear to it. It depicts a hen sitting on a nest or basket. I am not sure of its composition, but an educated guess is that it is tin-plated iron. There is a number on one of the tabs- 3870- but I cannot find any information on this particular mold. There are quite a few hens sitting on nests for sale with some being attributed to Letang et Fils, Anton Reiche and others.
I am attributing this mold to the early 1900s, possibly circa 1920s.
Condition/Please Read
*****Please note that there are no clips. Also, I would not use this for anything one intends to eat as I cannot be certain of the safety of the metal content, especially since the mold has a marked patina and wear as well as what appears to be significant loss of the coating.
The mold measures 5 ¼" across and 3 ½" at the highest point (from the edge of the basket to the upper edge of the mold above the hen's crest.
