WWI Era, French Soldier Brooch, Circa 1910s

$55.00

This brooch from France holds a photograph of a WWI soldier, probably of the 105th Infantry Regiment. The brooch measures approximately 1.25" across and has a C clasp closure. The point of the pin extends a tad past the edge of the brooch, which was common for brooches from this era. In fact, the older a brooch, the more chance it has of having a pin point that extends further past the edge of the brooch. This was to ensure secure attachment onto the heavier materials used in garments, especially during the 1800s. I believe the cover over the photo is plastic and not glass, but I cannot be certain. Circa 1910s.

*****Condition: The frame has discoloration to the metal, and I am uncertain if there were stones or other ornamentation within the indentations throughout the leafy border. Also, the pin must be firmly pulled to release it from the C closure but once it is clicked into place, it will stay in place. Also, please note the presence of what appears to be blue paint around the edge of the plastic cover. I believe this can be scraped off if one chooses to do so.

Thank you for looking.
