Mme Palmyre Gilles of http://albertgilles-copper-art.com/en/artists/ wrote the following to me when I sent her a query about and photos of this artwork:
The copper part is done partly by hand partly by machine on a thick solid copper. The enamel is all done by hand. The copper was lacquered to prevent tarnishing. The design was done by my dad during the 40's.
With the colors you have, we can date the picture around the 50's beginning of the 60's! Probably painted by the first wife of my father.
Please note the flaking and crazing of the enamel. If you need more photos, please let me know, and I'll be happy to oblige. The fifth photo shows a rough spot on the back of the picture that I just wanted to disclose. It doesn't interfere with the art on the front nor does it interfere with the display of the artwork.
The colors and shapes used have Art Nouveau elements of style.
Dimensions are 8.50" x 7.75". There is a wire on the back between two hooks anchored by copper pieces by which to hang the artwork.
I have another piece of Gilles' copper and enamel art listed in my shop, if you're interested.
