"Red & White was the first store brand for grocery merchandise, food products, beverages and household supplies. The brand was first launched on cans of coffee in 1908 by Smith Michael (S.M.) Flickinger in Buffalo, New York to compete with A&P and its popular private brand coffee and was named after the color on the store shelves." (Thank you to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_and_White_Brand for the above information.)
Thank you also to http://www.fedgrouplogin.com/Fedgroup/wherewerefrom.html for more information on the Red & White brand.
http://www.slahs.org/antiqibles/tins/dating.htm has valuable information on dating tins. I'm estimating that this tin is more than likely circa 1930s. "Reg. U.S. Pat. Off." was first used in 1932, and the fonts used on the tin are fonts that were popular during this time period.
Please note that there is some rust and staining, particularly at seams and on base and lid of can. Also, there is a ripple to the right of the paragraph entitled "Superb Quality." Some scratches are apparent on the red portion of the can as well as some on the white lettering. Please examine photos carefully and do let me know if you'd like to see more photographs. I'll be happy to oblige.
Dimensions are 5" across the lid and 3.5" from lid to base.
Thank you for looking.
