Schoenau & Hoffmeister Composition Doll with Bisque Head, Model 5000

This 24" doll is marked on the back of her head with a five pointed star and an S and H on either side with a PB in the center of the star. This stands for Porzellanfabrik Burggrub, the name of the German factory in Burggrub.

The torso is marked "Excelsior Germany 5" on the back, and there is what looks to be penciled "6606" on the doll's torso and one leg.

This doll was produced prior to 1930 so I am uncertain as to whether or not she is a true antique (100 years old or older) or just vintage. She has sleep eyes that work well. She has all of her teeth, a pate and a wig. I am uncertain as to whether or not the wig is original. I believe the dress and undergarment were made later. The dress, a heavier material, is beautifully done, made very well and embellished with floral trim and silver heart-shaped buttons. I don't believe the socks and shoes are original, either.

While the doll has all of her fingers and toes, her body shows signs of wear. Her face looks to be perfect. Her joints move freely and could probably use a restringing, but they're still intact.
