This serving plate is reminiscent of the design work of Joseph Maria Olbrich (1867-1908). Some of these pieces were produced by Villeroy and Boch although I don't know the manufacturer of this plate. I submitted photos to www.replacements.com and they could find no pattern name so it remains a puzzle.
Because of the style of this plate, I am dating it as being from the mid-1920s, the start of the Art Deco era. However, I have seen similar designs referred to as being secessionist (late 19th century, early 20th century) in nature (a blend of design work from various artists where one particular design element cannot be discerned).
The diameter is 11.5" from one metal edge to the other. The base is 9.5" across. The metal rim surrounds the ceramic plate.
