This is a Satsuma STYLE lamp and NOT a true antique. Based on the cord and plug, and taking into account the style of the lamp, I believe it's probably circa late 1950s. It was rare that someone would take an antique Satsuma vase and turn it into a lamp as this would require defacing the vase, an often valuable and one-of-a-kind antique.
Also, the term "Satsuma" is loosely used as most Satsuma was in a "yellowish earthenware," according to www.gotheborg.com.
The lamp has the characteristics of Satsuma when it comes to the hand-painted surface, including the moriage, the raised embellishments like the gold dots. Note that there is wear on the surface of the black portion of the lamp. Also, some of the moriage has come off, especially on the gold dots. Please examine the photos carefully and do let me know if you need more photos as I'll be happy to provide them.
Dimensions are 8" in height, 9" at its widest, and 2.5" across the base. The lamp does work although wiring may need to be checked just to make certain it's safely done. When buying older lamps on the secondary market, it's a good idea to have the wiring checked.
