This antique 54 page book (counting all pages, even the leaves at the beginning and end of the book) was copyrighted in 1903 and published by W.B. Conkey Company of Chicago. The front and back covers are illustrated, and there is a color frontispiece. The remainder of the book is richly illustrated with finely detailed black and white drawings.
The stories and poems include "Jack the Giant Killer," "Seven Little Maidens," "A Duck from Schooner," "The Runaway," "Santa Claus Does Not Forget," "How Edith Made a Cake," "Hugh's Story," "The Little Mousie," "An Indian Moving," "Piggy's Spoon," "The Sand Ranch," "Blackberries," and "A Funny Picnic."
The pages are in fair condition only because they're detached from the spine and have staple and rust marks in the middle where they were once attached. The text and illustrations as well as the pages themselves are clear and crisp with very little foxing.
The book boards are in poor condition with areas of paper loss and rubbing, especially on the back and also at the top right hand side of the back cover. The spine is almost completely deteriorated. There is quite a bit of foxing on the inside front and back covers. "To Alada" is written in cursive in ink at the bottom of the inside page opposite the inside of the front cover. "Body Hardenbugh; Dec. 1903; Kingston, N.Y." is written in cursive on the next page in pencil.
