This scarce 1926 edition of Ezra Pound's Personæ includes "Ripostes," "Lustra," "Homage to Sextus Propertius," and "H.S. Mauberley." It was published in 1926 by Boni & Liveright of New York and bears the note "Edition to date of all of Ezra Pound's poems, except the unfinished 'Cantos'."
There are 231 pages of printed text and four illustrations, two of which are introductory to chapters. While I tried to show the book's condition in the 10 photos allotted me, I was unable to show the condition to the extent I wished so here I will give a detailed description of the book. Please do let me know if you wish to have more photos as I will be more than happy to oblige.
This book can be considered to be in good condition. It has no missing pages but does have issues as aforementioned. The binding along the spine has chipping and is loose with some of the pages shaken. The edges of both the front and back boards exhibit chipping and edge wear.
Inside the front cover is a rough stained area and the inked Latin phrase "De gustibus non disbutandum est" with a name, perhaps of the owner, under the phrase, as shown in the ninth photo. Please also note the condition of the inner upper portion in this photo. There is also an ink mark and some discoloration as well as foxing on both of these pages.
The first plate, shown in the first photo, is now completely shaken from the spine as all it took were a couple of turns and it has come loose.
A note about the page edges, which exhibit considerable wear and an unevenness to them. The book was originally uncut and the owner who cut the pages did a poor job as there are pieces missing from the page edges, the most significant being a half inch in size. An example of such a missing portion is seen in the eighth photo. If you would like photographs of all of the pages that have missing pieces along the edges, I will be happy to do that for you.
Page 111 has an intact tear approximately 2" in length. There is no missing paper. The pages 156-157 were also poorly cut as an almost 3" piece of page 157 is still attached to the edge of page 156.
The inner back board of the book has a 1" Brentano's sticker haphazardly placed in the lower left bottom corner.
