This gamsbart, literally translated as chamois or goat beard, pin depicts an alpine goat with embellishments of goat hair and feathers.
The back of the pin closes firmly and also bears the stamping GES. GESCHUTZT, which is a patent mark that appeared on many different items, from china to weapons to jewelry.
The pin measures 3 1/8" in length and could be of German or Austrian origin as both countries used the patent mark mentioned above.
Please note that the goat hair has some stray pieces that are not in line with the rest of the hair. Also, care should be taken not to pull on the hair as it is fragile and can be pulled out of the pin.
