This pincushion has pins, a button, a needle, and a spun cotton bird atop velvety green leaves along with a strawberry emery. The cushion measures three inches across.
This piece was purchased in New Hampshire from an antiques dealer. It could be antique or it might be vintage, but I am leaning toward the early 1900s date-wise.
The bird has beaded eyes and what appears to be a thorn for its beak. Birds like this were often used in millinery design. Please note the areas of wear on the pincushion and do let me know if you'd like more photos as I'll be happy to oblige.
