This postage stamp holder is circa early 1900s, perhaps even circa late 1800s, but I'll err on the side of caution. While "made in" had to be used after 1914, some later pieces are still only marked with the country name. Still, I am confident that this piece is from the early 1900s.
This is a stamp holder that may or may not have originally had a lid. On the rare occasion that I've seen these pieces, they've had lids.
The holder measures 3 1/2"x 1 6/8" across the base. Height is almost 1".
The bottom is marked with "Austria" in in green cursive with the numbers 1603/520 in blue.
The gold trim is worn in places. Do refer to the photos and do let me know if you'd like more photos as I'll be happy to oblige.
