These Elkington silver plate tongs, made in England, have the hallmark and W signifying a production year of 1957.
I believe these tongs to be silver plate and not electroplated, the latter of which is a process for which this 180+ year-old company is known. The earliest electroplated pieces by Elkington had "Elec," "Tro," and "Plate" in three separate stampings.
These tongs have not been cleaned or polished as I am leaving this up to the discretion of their new owner. They have scratches and some pitting commensurate with wear. Also, please see the dark wear spot in the ninth photo.
They measure 3 3/4" in length.
