This antique, "Bébé" French doll brooch is circa 1910. This type of fastener, a tube hinge, was handmade and in use between 1850-1910. I am dating this brooch conservatively as being from the latter years of tube hinge usage.
The brooch measures 1 1/8" in length and is 1/8" wide so it is small. Please examine seventh photo and note that brooch is not perfectly straight although this cannot be seen when the brooch is fastened to clothing. Also please note the the second, third, fifth, sixth, and eighth photos where there is discoloration to the metal. There is also a loop at the bottom of the bar. I am unsure as to its usage. Perhaps there was something suspended from the main portion of the brooch. The metal is not marked as silver so it is a base metal.
